Due to her remarkable swordsmanship Reika was said to be a next high ranked officer in the 11th squad. Unexpectedly, Aizen Sousuke took notice of her wary and sly nature, recommending her for his own division. Eventually, after a couple of years, Reika became the vice captain under his command, although she never learned to cope completely with his appealing and somehow overwhelming kindness, since she had to realize at some point in her past that especially those characteristics come along with perfidious intentions.
Nevertheless, Aizen was able to make use of the mix of retained suspicion, exceptional loyalty to the Gotei 13 and still admiration of his wisdom and skill dwelling in her. And to cut a long story short: By means of his illusion techniques and a lot of fake conspiracy he made her leave Soul Society; making her to his personal ‘backup’ if something might ever happen to him.
